Il nostro tempo è un tempo apocalittico? Rispetto ad altre epoche del passato, i mali che affliggono la terra sembrano meno drammatici. Ma i cavalieri dell’Apocalisse (guerra, povertà, peste) sembrano all’opera. E all’opera sembrano anche tendenze inquietanti come la disumanizzazione del governo, il dominio economico del mondo, il potere della propaganda. Ma l’imperio della morte si può combattere solo riaprendo l’orizzonte di un futuro in cui non vi sarà più maledizione.
Is our time an apocalyptic time? Compared to other eras in the past, the evils afflicting the earth seem less dramatic. But the horsemen of the Apocalypse (war, poverty, plague) are at work. And worrying trends such as the dehumanisation of government, economic domination of the world and the power of propaganda also seem to be at work. The empire of death can only be fought by reopening the horizon of a future in which there will be no more curse.
