Attraverso una critica della tesi di Schmitt sul comandamento evangelico dell’amore per il nemico – si darebbe un tipo di nemico che ne va escluso – si cerca di mostrare come l’amore evangelico riguardi inequivocabilmente il caso della separazione e opposizione «estrema» – operi, per così dire, nello «stato d’eccezione» – e restituisca innanzitutto nel suo significato più radicale il concetto di nemico.

The hermeneutic misunderstanding of Girard on the interpretation of the parables – intentionally left ambiguous by the Galilean rabbi (Mt 13, 13-15) – is the cue and the measure to correctly evaluate the parable of the tares. Especially since this parable has been recurrently subjected to gnostic interpretations. In order to face the disturbing mysterium iniquitatis present in Matthew’s account, we need an epistemologically rebalanced reading and a more realistic hermeneutical orientation. A biblical understanding of the relation with the divinity, as revealed in the parables to his disciples, can be reached only if we respect the exegetical reading together with the theological meaning passed on by the living Christian interpretation. We thus come to a more engaging understanding of the reader, called to deal not with the «from where?» (Πόθεν) of evil but with the simultaneous presence of the two seeds, in the heart of every man, because of the accepted word: that of Christ or that of the enemy.
