La prima parte dell’articolo mette in evidenza alcuni aspetti del problema riguardante le relazioni tra legge divina e libertà dell’uomo. La domanda fondamentale è la seguente: se è la volontà di Dio a fissare la legge morale, possiamo ancora credere nella nostra libertà e nella nostra responsabilità? La seconda parte descrive alcune difficoltà contenute in questa domanda e la seria possibilità di una risposta negativa. La terza parte dello scritto tenta un recupero della nostra libertà di fronte a Dio cercando la sua legge non nelle parole della rivelazione, ma nell’agire della creazione. Affinché l’operazione riesca è importante pensare la creazione non come atto che si è esaurito all’inizio del tempo, ma come un agire creativo continuo. L’agire creativo di Dio potrebbe realizzarsi attraverso l’evoluzione naturale, nella quale l’uomo è necessariamente coinvolto, ma libero di scegliere se partecipare come alleato o come nemico.

The first part of the article points out some aspects of the discussions about the relationships between the divine law and human freedom. The main questions is this: if it is God’s will which establishes the moral law, how can we still believe in our freedom and responsibility? The second part describes some difficulties contained in this question and the possibility of a negative answer. The third part of the work tries to recover our freedom in the sight of God, looking for His law not in the words of the revelation, but in the creation. In order that this operation turns out well, it is important to think of the creation not as an act which finished at the beginning of time, but as a continuous creative acting. God’s creative acting might be realized through the natural evolution, in which man is necessarily involved, but at the same time he is free to take part as an alley or as an enemy.
