L’autore tenta in primo luogo di stilare una mappatura concettuale dell’autorità, ai differenti livelli (etico, pedagogico, politico) del suo utilizzo semantico. Poi discute e chiarisce, anche offrendo un succinto profilo storico, le idee e le forme storiche di autorità. Mette in luce inoltre un nodo cruciale della tematizzazione moderna dell’autorità: il rapporto tra autorità e responsabilità. Infine problematizza sinteticamente l’esercizio dell’autorità nel potere politico e nella società democratica.

The author tries first to sketch out a conceptual survey of authority, on the different levels (ethical, pedagogical, political) of its semantic usage. He argues and clarifies then the ideas and the concrete shapes of authority, also drawing a historical outlook of them. He highligthts further a crucial puzzle of drawing the theme authority: the relationship between authority and responsibility. Finally he shortly discusses the issues concerning the exercise of authority within the frame of political power and democratic society.
