Il Discorso all'Areopago testimonia che «l'incontro del cristianesimo con la filosofia non fu immediato né facile». Così il Magistero cattolico recente esprime la problematicità perdurante del rapporto tra fede cristiana e razionalità moderna. A partire dall'analisi di alcune interpretazioni filosofiche e teologiche contemporanee di At 17, si riformula in un contesto plurale la domanda: "quale filosofia per la teologia?". Si prospetta una risposta che, attenta all'esegesi biblica odierna, sia compatibile con le istanze del pensiero fenomenologico e ermeneutico e con lo statuto comunicativo della teologia cristiana.

The Sermon in the Areopagus testifies that «the encounter of Christianity with philosophy was neither immediate nor easy» Thus the recent Roman Catholic Magisterium expresses the enduring problematic of the relationship between Christian faith and modern rationality. Starting from the analysis of some contemporary theological and philosophical interpretations of Acts 17,the question: "what kind of philosophy for theology?"is reformulated in a plural context. The author proposes a response that, careful to the contemporary Biblical exegesis of today, may be compatible with the instances of phenomenological and hermeneutical thinking and with the communicative status of Christian theology.
